New Music - What's Next for Louis Tomlinson?

While his band mates, Harry Styles, Niall Horan and Liam Payne have been busy on the promotional trail with their own solo music, Louis has been keeping a relatively low profile. With 'Just Hold On' still hot on the Dance Charts, the collaboration with world-renowned DJ Steve Aoki is the first and only piece of solo material Louis has served up to his legion of fans.

Last taking to the stage to perform his collaboration in front thousands of festival goers at Ultra 2017 in Miami in March, the audience went crazy for the performance and Louis certainly seemed to relish the experience. So it begs the question, what's next?

Rumors have been swirling about his next single since February 26 after Louis cryptically posted a Tweet that simply said “Always” followed minutes later by a selfie on Instagram with the caption “You”. Eagle-eyed fans quickly linked the two posts and speculated that the name of his next single could be “Always You”, however this has yet to be confirmed.

Louis has been spotted in the studio with various artists including Matoma, Digital Farm Animals and Lunch Money Lewis, as well as experienced songwriters such as Jesse Thomas and Rozes (Elizabeth Mencel) and his interactions on social media have triggered a great deal of curiosity.

Perhaps the most persistent potential collaboration rumor has been with singer-songwriter and producer, Bebe Rexha. On an episode of Culinary Kitchen in March, Bebe casually mentioned that she had a new track coming soon that she had worked on with "somebody really big from a boy band". Observers quickly turned to social media to investigate and confirmed that both Bebe and her manager, Adam Mersel, followed Louis on Instagram and Louis and Bebe followed each other on Twitter.

Further fuel was added to the fire when Bebe appeared to be in Doncaster, happily posting on social media using a "Doncaster Bus" filter, at the same as Louis was shooting scenes for his music video in his home town.

Fans delved further and discovered Bebe's cousin, who was traveling with her, in the background of a fan picture Louis took with one of the cast on set. Bebe's stylist was then spotted posting to Instagram from Doncaster and both of them were spotted in Bebe's SnapChats. A few days later, pap pictures were released of Louis taken outside Keepmoat Stadium in Doncaster, where much of the filming took place, with both Bebe's cousin and her stylist easily identifiable.

Speculation ran wild again on May 27 when it was noticed that a new song, 'Back To You', had been registered on both ASCAP and BMI with writing credits for Louis and 4 others, but with no performer listed. [ASCAP and BMI are organisations who collect publishing royalties (performance royalties) for the public performance of musical works.] His co-writers are listed as Sarah Blanchard and Rick Boardman who have both worked with Clean Bandit, Pablo Bowman from The Dream Life and Nick Gale from Digital Farm Animals.

Given that 'Back To You' has no writing credit for Bebe Rexha (who is a prolific songwriter), theories are circulating that we could be getting more than one new song from Louis in the very near future, and perhaps even more than one music video.

Only time will tell, but the excitement is building and we can't wait to see what happens next!
