Variety announces that Louis Tomlinson has signed to Arista Records as his US Label.

Arista Records, owned by Sony Music Entertainment, was founded in 1974 by Clive Davis. After a break from 2011 to 2018, Clive announced the revival of the label and called upon David Massey, former president and CEO of Island Records to lead it into the future.

David Massey, a trustee of The Recording Academy, has a long and notable career that proceeds him. In the late 90’s he was the A&R Vice President of Epic Records having worked with Oasis. Since then, he has moved around Sony Music in different positions as well as in Universal Music and founded his own label. He has been responsible for the success of acts such as Avicii, The Jonas Brothers, Nick Jonas, Shawn Mendes, Mike Posner and Elton John.

The move to Sony’s Arista Records, making it his home label within the United States means Louis has parted ways with Epic Records, who he had signed with in 2017. The change in label does not impact Louis’ home label in the United Kingdom, he still currently signed to SYCO and there is no indication that he is looking to make a change to that arrangement at this stage.

Epic Records were behind the release of Louis’ last three tracks, ‘Back to You’, ‘Just Like You’ and ‘Miss You’. Whilst the change in US label does come as a surprise, Louis has also changed managers during the past twelve months, now managed by Three Six Zero’s, Mark Gillepsie and Seven 7 Management’s, Matt Vines.

Having recently hinted through tweets regarding his new music and liking a tweet which mentions a new track of his that has recently been registered on GEMA (Germany’s Performance Rights Agency), “Two Of Us”, it is safe to assume new music is imminent and with a new team behind him, this era of Louis is sure to excite fans.
